Convert BMP to PNG

PNG is a useful destination for bitmap screenshots, diagrams, and technical images when you want compression without a JPEG-style lossy export. It can reduce storage compared with an uncompressed BMP, though the actual size depends on the image.

An image conversion, not a container copy

Winzerk decodes the BMP into a browser canvas and exports a PNG. PNG compression is lossless for those rendered pixels, but the original palette layout, bit depth, metadata, and BMP header are not carried over as a byte-for-byte representation. If a system requires an indexed 8-bit BMP specifically, keep or create that format instead.

Convert with Winzerk

Add BMP files, select PNG, leave resizing off if dimensions must stay the same, and click Convert All. Download the results and test them in the receiving application.

Technical images need a deliberate resize choice

Resizing changes the sampled image even when PNG is the output. Smooth can introduce intermediate intensities; Nearest pixel avoids that blending but can still discard samples when reducing dimensions. Neither is a substitute for a scientific resampling workflow. Browser support for unusual BMP encodings varies, so keep originals if an input fails to decode. Conversion and ZIP creation happen locally on your device.
